What they’re saying:
“Tim’s use of a loop pedal to record what he’s playing ‘on the fly’ allows him to layer certain songs into infectious grooves that he can sing and play over. Tim doesn’t always rely on the loop pedal, but instead uses it sparingly and to great effect on a portion of the songs, leaving the rest as raw as the day they were written. The ‘modern toys’ never manage to get in the way of the songs or Tim’s well-worn vintage sound, allowing him to deliver, as he calls it, a true ‘Blues/Americana/Groove’ experience.”
Tim Lee has spent more than half his life as a professional musician and has thousands of appearances under his belt. Most of that time was spent touring in Canada and the US with his own trio or as a sideman for a number of stellar personalities from the Blues world.
Lately, Tim has been living and traveling in the UK, bringing his solo show to clubs, festivals, and parties, far and wide. He also enjoys bringing music to the streets and can be spotted busking regularly. Tim’s show offers a variety of original songs, and a few old favourites, peppered with a story or two, all from the Blues and Americana world. He mixes old with new, vintage with modern, and backs it all up with his thirty-plus years experience as a touring musician.
“‘Cleo’s Back’ is one powerful start to the disc, exorcising the Stax soaked spirits of Booker T. and Motown’s Jr. Walker in an R&B driven instrumental that showcases the sizeable talents of each player.”
“…Lee dosen’t draw distinctions between genres, freeing him up to play what he enjoys, creating it in his own voice, aided by a simpatico crew of accomplished players. Harpist Chris ‘Junior’ Malleck compliments Lee’s skills perfectly and bassist Steve Toms and drummer Murray Campbell complete a tight band that mine a subtle groove that grows addictive with repeated listening.”
“…proves he can step out of standard blues renditions and mark his own territory.”
