I hate flying… (with guitars)

As most people know, handing your valuable instrument to an airline baggage handler is a risky affair. I have always said: “If you’re going to fly with it, pack it in a proper flight case and insure it!” Well, this time I’m doing things a bit differently. You see, arch top guitars are particularly fragile and as such, a proper flight case for one is big and heavy. I don’t feel like lugging one around on this trip so I decided to travel with a more robust, solid body guitar packed in a smaller, lighter road case. After a bit of thought, I realised that one plus to having a heavy case is that it can’t be thrown by a baggage handler. My new, lighter case can easily be tossed around so I became nervous about putting a $1500.00 guitar into it for it’s maiden voyage. As luck would have it, I happened upon a nice, used guitar I liked at the local music shop. After trading in some unused gear, it cost me £19.00. Sweet. Cheap-ass guitar, tough but light case, no need for insurance. Lets see how this plays out.
